Winter 2017 Chicago Museum Free Days

Many of Chicago’s museums offer free admission in January and February to Illinois residents with a valid ID. Don’t miss your chance to take advantage of these special discount days.

Adler Planetarium free dates: January 6–13, 16 (Martin Luther King Day), 17–20 February 6–10, 20 (President’s Day), 21–24.

Art Institute of Chicago Special Winter Weekdays: Free ALL day on all weekdays for Illinois Residents from Jan 9, 2017 to Feb 16, 2017.

Chicago History Museum Every Tuesday beginning January 3, 2017, the Museum is free to Illinois residents from 12:30–7:30 p.m.

Field Museum free dates: January 4, 5, 16, 28, 29, 30, February 1 – 28.

Museum of Science and Industry free dates: January 10-12, 16-19, 24-26, 31, February 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 28.

Shedd Aquarium offers discount days on January 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, February 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 21, 27, 28.

Families can also save at six area children’s museums by purchasing a Family CLIMB membership. The membership costs $135/year and offers free admission for two adults and all dependent children under the age of 18 living in the same household, up to six admissions. Participating museums include: The Children’s Museum of Oak Lawn, Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville, KidsWork Children’s Museum in Frankfort, Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview, and Wonder Works Children’s Museum in Oak Park.
